For the past 2 months I have been busy taking part in consulting/art directing/project managing the new advertising campaign for the new Range Rover Evoque Paris.
The new car was revealed at the Paris Motor Show and it's smokin'!
Next up is NY in 2 weeks and a Range Rover to drive us upstate for a shoot...a white one please...but more on that later.

In aim to mark the new Range Rover Evoque launch we decided to create a series of art installations across landmarks in Paris, celebrating the Evoques 4 key components: luxury, technology, design and sustainability. Giving one wire frame each to my good friend Yorgo Tloupas of Intersection, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Andre and Surface To Air, this is what they came up with!
To top it off we organized a Bold & Beautiful party on a yacht on river Seine.
Had a splendid time, got in at 7.30am and found myself on set again at 8am sharp...never fail!

The Range Rover Evoque project proved to be a great success. Thanks to all who reached out to Paris and for having a brill time with me.
After all the hard work, it was Fashion Week parties & shows and bumping into many old faces and friends from literally all across the world. No sleep. No food. But a whole lot of work, being on time, champagne and taxi's.
Good times were had, although I lost 2 Blackberry's.

On Tuesday I was off to Paris at 7am for work meetings for the new Range Rover project I am currently working on. 5 meetings later about another 5 meetings I finally met up with Alex and we went to Hotel Amour for dinner...
She dropped me off at Yorgo's new flat in the 17th district where I was to crash the night - and this is his view from his living room window. If you know Yorgo somewhat you'd know how hilarious this is. Typical.

There's great exhibitions on in London at the moment. I went to check out my all time fave Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens today. Wolfgang Tillmans + The Pavilion to highlight their 10th year anniversary.
It was OK - not too impressed to be honest. But it was cool to see my creation, AIE on the shelves in the best book shop ever - Serpentine's.

My stuff is everywhere at the moment...and as i was clearing out i came across the book of one of the most gifted, innovative, expensive but difficult art directors of the 1960's - ROBERT BROWNJOHN.

Creating titles for early James Bond films like 'From Russia With Love' and 'Goldfinger', designing Rolling Stones' album sleeve 'Let It Bleed', the graphic designer/art director/ film-maker RBJ was responsible for many of the most memorable images of the 1960s. RBJ captured the experimental spirit of the era by applying a modern twist to mainstream culture, because that was him in a nutshell - he had a huge appetite for modern life.

He co-founded the innovative design firm Brownjohn, Chermayeff & Geismar, he developed graphic and exhibition design projects for the Pepsi-Cola Company (my fave), Columbia Records and the US Pavilion at the 1959 Brussels World’s Fair. He wined and dined with New York's finest jazz figures, his good friends, Miles Davis, Stan Getz and Charlie Parker.
In 1960 he moved to London, where he worked in advertising. Among his last designs was a poster for the 1969 New York Peace Campaign, consisting of the letters ''PE,'' an ace of spades (the death card) and a question mark (so good).
He certainly took the smooth with the rough though - heroin addiction - and what better place to fuel his addiction than London in those days - where you could get ANYTHING you wanted from the NHS.
Brownjohn died in 1970, days before his 45th birthday.

Had he not died, he probably would have achieved a greater credit than what people give him.

Get a book on him. He is in my top list.

British architects GRIMSHAW, whose offices are just down the road from my house in Clerkenwell, have completed an extension to the ExCeL convention centre in London with a BRIGHT YELLOW e-shaped entrance.

The yellow spiral is intended to increase the sense of arrival at the venue and aid way-finding, highlighting the access to different levels and providing a clear route for visitors from the ground floor upwards. Yep, the colour YELLOW does all that. And more.

Can't wait to go and check it out. Nice work Grimshaw.

I really admire photographer GUIDO MOCAFICO'S work. His still life is truly breathtaking and so precise. His collaborations with art director Thomas Lenthal (another creatives work i am obsessed with) is captivating.
Yep, get THIS book, or if you can - get the 105cm x 105cm large prints if you have some money tucked under your mattress... - it came out in 2007. But it's never too late to buy the book or any book for that matter.
Its simplicity will blow your mind. 2 guys at the top of their game - i mean...what do you expect?

I just got back from a long weekend in Paris...i have 3 small words: Paris Loves Me.

Cos everytime i go to this beautiful but incredibly rude city it treats me so well.

Visvim boat party on river Seine with 3 course dinner and superb company, AIE magazine launch at Louis Vuitton Cultural Space, Stussy 30th anniversary bbq and party, fashion shows, and the best part was to see some of my old friends from across the world gathered in Paris all at the same time...!

A few months back Alexandra came to me with a half finished magazine and was a bit lost...and as Alexandra and I go years back - going to University together + generally being good friends and all...i accepted the challenge.
Hell, why not.
After pulling a couple of stories, sorting out Alex's dyslexia and bad grammar with the help of Financial Times' English guru turned into AÏE magazine Copy Editor Vincent, and my design/art direction skills we were rolling.
Here it is! The 84 pages baby blue/black branded perfectly binded magazine.
The final product can be purchased in pretty much every shop/boutique/gallery you would want your own magazine to be stocked at.

And to top it off, the launch is being held this Friday 25th June at The Louis Vuitton Cultural space in Paris...be there or be square.

Kensington Gardens is gorgeous on a sunny day and so is my all time fave Serpentine Gallery.

Not only does this gallery hold some of the greatest unique exhibitions but also THE best book shop ever. To mark their 40th anniversary this year, the 10th Serpentine gallery annual Pavilion is being designed by world-renowned French architect Jean Nouvel.

Jean Nouvel only has a maximum of six months from invitation to complete this amazing piece.
The design for the 2010 Pavilion is a contrast of lightweight materials and dramatic metal cantilevered structures. The entire design is rendered in a vivid red that, contrasts with the green of its park setting. The amazing choice of colour reflects the iconic British images of traditional telephone boxes, post boxes and London buses.

Nouvel’s Serpentine Gallery Pavilion will operate as a public space, a café and as a venue for Park Nights.

Open from July 2010 - October 2010.

I really can't stay in London for too long. This time around I went to Paris for 11 days straight to work...and play. Interviewing Olivier Zahm, Oscar-winning French collective H5 and to style and art direct a 12 page fashion editorial + other meetings...plenty of jokes.
Paris is like describing myself really - stunning, luxurious and expensive!

My friend Chris from MHI reached out to Paris for a gig, so we linked up and hung out on the streets of Paris, checked some galleries and went to Andre's "new" restaurant 'La Fidelite' for dinner.
Neon sign - Check
Traditional and cool interiors - Check
Star-studded tables - Check
Great food - NOT

Obviously, the menu is extremely french and traditional and the prices are kinda reasonable. Normal, you know.
I ordered the shrimps/chicken with some crazy wine sauce, but to my surprise i was served a dish with absolutely no seasoning.
You see my mother is a head-chef so i am a serious food snob and that dish was so not cool.
If it's any consolation, the bar staff were extraordinary and very attentive. Great Rose wine + comfy seats.
Thank God for Gordon Ramsey's restaurants.

COMME DES GARCONS x VOGUE NIPPON

YEP. I was lucky to catch this whilst i was in Tokyo.

As if it wasn't enough with the CDG x Louis Vuitton shop they did last year...this time they teamed up with Vogue Nippon.
The new shop featured a bunch of fashion collaborations between Commes designer Kawakubo and brands including Chanel and Fendi and also a collaboration between Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and Comme des Garcons, AND then i was lucky to see the space transform from Murakami to Terry Richardson in just 24h!

I got some Murakami stuff and the infamous TIARA, which i will blog about in a hot minute.
Just got to take a pic of me wearing it. It's too good to not wear it on a night out.

So i see my last post was on the 14th June, apologies.
After shooting enough ice coffee with a zillion sugar cubes in my veins i am back safe and sound from my incredible travels. Well - just about.
Sweden was cool, Tokyo was the BEST and Paris was hot and steamy.
I shall not bore you with Sweden but go straight to big up Tokyo. I hung out with my cool Japanese friend Miho and her friends, met Mr Ito - former Warp magazine editor (who is now working on his own brand new magazine - keep your eyes peeled for 'EyeTokyo'), had a drink with the Teriyaki Boyz, chatted up Lyntaro with long hair, meeting time with Kubo from Nike Tokyo (who proved to be so nice and genuine), shopped at Comme des Garcons, checked exhibitions, had 'fun' in the Love Hotel Hills, got drunk at Le Baron, ate dinner on the 25th floor of a fuck off building, took stupid sticker photo booth pix, bumped into Hiroshi Fujiwara, gate-crashed parties, almost lost my teeth due to the many sugar drinks (wtf is up with that!?), took midnight walks, left my wallet somewhere and to my surprise discover that it was still in the same place when i returned, skipped the queues like a true rude European and generally had a BLAST with the thousands of polite and great Japanese people, friends and my good friend Chris who invited me out there. A BIG Thank You.

Earthquake in Sweden today: The artist Conny Blom showcased his new art project "The Bunny Project".

He taped bunches of carrots together with black tape and attached blue and red wires and a clock to them.
Police received worried calls from members of the public who thought they were real bombs. Mr Blom was forced to remove his art - and may face charges.
The carrot bombs had been placed around the city Örebro at the request of a local art gallery, as part of an open-air arts festival.

According to the police: "It was hard to tell if they were real or not. We find this inappropriate".
But to the artist himself, it was quite the contrary. He described it as a harmless stunt, saying: "After all, it is just carrots with an alarm clock and nothing else... this is just a caricature of a bomb".

I just think it's funny as it ended up on 'the latest news' on bbc.co.uk.

Today is Sweden's National Day. That's right, 6th of June.
Most countries go totally nuts (maybe because they actually have a reason to celebrate) but we all know Sweden is like the MOST neutral country on earth.
Sweden spend the day checking out the Royal Family dressed up in stupid outfits and then watch the yellow and blue Swedish flag run up the mast...grrrreat. Luckily i have mad love for the Royal Family.

Tonight i took a break and went with my good buddy Steff to check out the Belvedere Black Raspberry pop-up store off Parklane in W1. 100 Mount Street to be exact.
You know the 'new and upcoming' street in London town (my new hang out)...uber trendy street with flashy gastro pubs, Scott's, Lanvin, Louboutin, Marc Jacobs...and Belvedere of course.
But be quick, it's only there for another 4 days. Easy come, easy go.
Belvedere alongside Snow Queen vodka have always been my favourites, but the cocktails were a disappointment - ultra weak and far too much juice...
The graphics were kinda poor, looked like fruit salad wall paper. Space looked poor and empty, badly executed. The portrait frames were from Habitat - come on now!
Also let me introduce the 'Belvie' bag! "Belvedere Vodka commissioned Brit luxe accessories designer Jonathan Kelsey to create something for their new black raspberry flavor. The result? a bag that would crush all others." HUH?
Oh, and it's outfitted with a hidden compartment, perfect for a bottle of Belvedere. (nice one)
Good fun. Burger time and then the fashion bus (55). Andre was nowhere in sight. Damn.

Been clearing out...again. I have come to the conclusion that I am a hoarder.
Whilst chucking out a bunch of stuff...i came across the below and decided it's going nowhere.
Maharishi at its prime some may say. I say this was a great look book. Warhol and Basquiat miniatures modelling the A/W 2005 collection. Hard work pays off. Simply brilliant.

Better late than never - this is a brand to keep watching evolve; MERCIBEAUCOUP.
Japanese Eri Utsugi created this gorgeous brand in 2006 and it's part of Issey Miyake's A-Net group of brands.
The brand concept is: "With pureness, with fun, with beauty, mercibeaucoup."
This is a brand where the clothes are organized but humerous, affirmative but laid back. Clothes that are of everyday life, clothes that are fun, yet slick.
The name of the brand comes from "the wish to keep in mind the feeling of thankfulness in daily life", which i think is a super approach.

- He smokes Vogue cigarettes under Cherry tree's and is dressed head to toe in Comme des Garcons.
- He is a fashionista.
- He is damn clever.
- He is 18. But not your average 18 year old. Be sure of it.

Tea time, art talk and reminiscing old times at Gary's 'secret' bar 'back in the day'.
Once again, I was reminded of how shit I am at drawing. Sam's work, as described in his own words: “intended as points of confluence, where liminal and contested belief systems intersect with language, architecture and memory".
Dude is highly intelligent and great at art, not to mention an amazing critic. He makes a great friend to hang out with. He is a snob, alike me. We are totally on the same wave length.
He skates, we met through my friend Jennifer. We held hands for a brief minute and realized - naah.

Yorgo, the Creative Director of Intersection magazine + fixed gear guru, is one of my fave "have fun with" friends.
He joined me and Jennifer last Saturday for Xerxes Birthday party...jokes x 100.

And NO, he is not joking.
He fell asleep at 2am on the sofa with his cycling shoes on...camera is busted again - grrreat, and Blackberry camera is wizzzack.

I am the last person to support cigarettes...totally against the fuckers...but i HAD to buy this pack whilst i was in Moscow...due to the packaging...fucking incredible...!
The manufacturers could have taken it to the next level and actually have them flavoured...but i guess they're not that clever.
The purple or the green ones are my fave ones.
If only i smoked...damn i would look super stylish puffing on one of these... Beats Vogue cigarettes any day, every day.

In between of designing the feature on Blow PR for French magazine AIE!! and designing business cards and emailing and talking business on bbm and at the same time trying to figure out what i am wearing (it's sunny now but i know i will freeze my ass off later), i received a funny email from Jennifer about a mutual friends birthday on Friday. He had copied a Joe Dallesandro picture...you know that hot dude from the Warhol era. One gotta love a bit of Joe on a Wednesday afternoon. Style & Sex hand in hand.

So the French seem to be everywhere at the moment.
When i was in Moscow i went to Andre's party - a Le Baron pop up party and the entire French klan was there...and the story repeated itself the following night...too much jokes.
And yesterday my Parisian friend Chris aka Frenchy from Clark Magazine arrived in London just to 'hang out'. They do have a sweet life these Frenchies, don't they.

But what i love about them is that they never come empty handed...this is what Chris brought me. Chocolates, yo yo's and mags. And you got to love the details, he got me COOL mag cos he thinks i HAD to check out the poor art direction and design...and he got me the other two mags cos of the great art direction and design. Bless. Even the bag is fashion. Thanks ever so much Frenchy. Tokyo is up next.

Plane departs at 9.30am direct to !!RUSSIA!!...can't wait.
Need to get out - the smog is killing me...again.
Gonna check the Adidas Originals party, the La baron opening, some hot bands, the Novodevichy Cemetery where some of Russia's most famous people, including amazing authors Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekhov and composer Sergei Prokofiev are resting in peace.
(Yes, i am a bundle of joy but these people ruled!)
A visit to The Park of Statues must be done...need to brush up on my history knowledge...not to mention the infamous Red square, where the world's renowned Russian achitectural masterpiece 'St Basil's Cathedral' can be found to name a few.
+ i'm gonna see my friend Sasha who i used to live with in Dalston for several years until she got deported :( I haven't seen her for 5 years.
This is gonna be AMAZING. Literally.
